Finished: Dresser

Again, color drama.  I used Valspar "Cherry Divine."  I wanted a bright red with a tiny bit of pinky-ness to it.  What I ended up with was more like Sleeping Beauty pink.  While I was working on the dresser, I really wished I had had a paint sprayer.  That would have been super-nice.  I started thinking after a while that my paint brushes could have been better quality.  It was not unlike painting with a broom.  Enough complaining... for now.

I did use the Howard walnut colored paste wax for finishing and I think that helped to temper the color quite a bit.  My original intention was to break this project up over at least two days-- maybe three.  I planned to do some refinishing on the original hardware (which was a royal pain to get off of the dresser.)  I wasn't going to put the drawers back in or my things in the drawer until at least 24 hours later.  Yup.  Good intentions.  Hope I don't regret this.

Decided to do an impromtu experiment with the hardware involving turquoise paint used to create a faux verdigris patina.  All I did was brush the paint on and immediately wipe it back off which left just enough in the crevices.  Super easy and super fast.  I think I did the whole thing in less than ten minutes.

So, finished the hardware and went ahead and put it on.  Then decided to just screw it and put my stuff back in.  The paint is dry but it hasn't really cured 100%.  I will however wait a few days to put anything on top.

I will say, although I was hesitant about the color, with my bedding it actually makes perfect sense.  I liked the loud colors in my inspiration pictures.  I'm just a big wuss and not used to taking risks.  I will eventually get over it... Or I will repaint some furniture.
