Like a super-nerd, I found some graph paper and used it to make cut-outs of my room and furniture and have been trying different arrangements. I really thought (based on my pretend-room) that the current arrangement was really my only option if I wanted to retain any sort of floor space. My graph-room lied to me.
I had intended to start trimming the walls last night but after a particularly grueling Saturday at work, I wussed out. Instead I found myself doing some fairly intensive prep work. I took down my old art which I don't want to reuse and patched the nail holes. Then I had to move my furniture around in order to remove the old rug. I started turning my bed and discovered I liked it better against the adjoining wall. Space was really not affected at all. I must have mismeasured something when I was making my graph room. Anyway, just rearranging was nice.
The other thing that was nice was seeing the hardwood floors again. It completely changed the feel of the room. I've also noticed lately that the less stuff I have in there, the harder I sleep. What does that mean??? There has to be some reason for that but I don't have a clue what it would be.
Today I painted the walls. Yet another huge change! The more gray I put on, the more crazy the old color looked. It's strangely calming. (Color psychology???) Anyway, I'm anxious to deal with the box spring on my bed now but that will require a trip to the hardware store for plywood. Hopefully next weekend (Christmas) I can paint the yellow dresser. I was settled on a color but after doing the walls, I'm already starting to second guess myself. We'll see.
